Project Administration, Training, Coordination and Employment/Life skills were embedded
throughout the life of this 10-week timber framing and construction training project build, a conception of Frank Browns and greatly supported by HTC's Social Development.
The training also delivered on HTC zoned community beautification project, 'The Gathering House', that is used to store our 'GÍwa' our ocean going canoe.
In 2018, with guidance from our language speakers, this space had been renamed the Q̓átuw̓alas (Gah-too-wah-las). In Heiltsuk this means "A Place To Gather", a safe space to come in and learn about our Nation, our Community, and our History!
With the support of our Economic Development Department, we have one year round Q̓átuw̓alas Supervisor and hire seasonal employees throughout the summer months.
